Shine On With Sequins

Shine On With Sequins

Drew Barrymore. Nicole Richie. Jennifer Lopez. Everybody’s doing it…wearing sequins, of course! If you think stars are the only ones with a license to shine, think again! From accessories to dresses (and everything in between) this trend isn’t fading anytime soon. We shine a light on how to get it “just right.”
1.) Avoid looking like a disco ball. Stick to one sequined item per outfit: a dress, a top, a skirt. Whatever you choose, it should be focal point. Also, choose a simple design or pattern to keep your “look” modern and fresh.

2.) Minimize the accessories. Sequins are like jewelry all on their own! An amazing pair of earrings or an oversized cocktail ring is all you need to keep things looking cool.
3.) All that glitters isn’t gold…or silver, for that matter. Deeper hues like navy, charcoal and bronze are classy, chic, and perfect for all ages.

4.) Mix sequins with staples that are already in your wardrobe, like a boyfriend blazer, skinny jeans, or a faux-fur vest, to tailor this shining look to your style.
5.) Remember: Sequins reflect light…and they’re attention grabbers! In other words, they’ll amplify the part of the body they’re on. For me, a sequin skirt is a no-no because I don’t like to draw attention to my short legs.
6.) If you’re “iffy” about sequins, start small. Choose a winter hat, a clutch, even a simple headband, and build your wardrobe from there.
